The work you put into your writing is beyond impressive. I feel like I have a subscription to not just a newsletter, but an intellectual magazine with artistic translations. Wonderful stuff 🖤

Porn is media that presents you with something you want.

This is a seriously impressive written reflection, Offscreenshaman.

Excellent, excellent

This is so true. I once was a frequent viewer of porn and I found that I had to search for the kind that would make me feel something. The kind with pauses, awkward laughter and a why instead of just a what. I've tried to explain this to other people why I can't just fantasize or write erotica without giving a reason and establishing a motive. I never could explain it so eloquently.

I think you’re right: motive is the marrow. And when it’s missing, all that’s left is choreography. Thank you for this.

This is brilliant and so important.

So much of what you say, particularly around *leaving the awkward, human bits in* really strikes a chord with me- I think that observation is relevant to all forms of art, entertainment and media. Even moreso when the subject is sex- the most human experience of all.

Amazing piece.. The poem was great too. Porn is definitely an insidious force in society that is having a pretty disastrous impact on youth in particular.

I’ve definitely been in relationships where people thought they had learned the script. It was a sad experience to have that warp in the mind when true intimacy was the real goal.

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to reading more of your work ☺️

Appreciate that, truly. The saddest part is exactly what you said, when someone thinks they know the scene, but misses the story. There’s something quietly tragic in watching touch become choreography.

Thank you, it means a lot that you saw that. I’m still trying to unlearn some of that script myself.
